Open databaseEFSA does not consider single caffeine intakes up to 200 mg or total daily intakes up to 400 mg from all sources to raise safety concerns for healthy, non-pregnant adults. These are safety reference values, not consumption recommendations, and individual sensitivity varies. In Hungary, energy drinks covered by the legal definition may not be sold or served to people under 18.
Responsible consumption in detailThe German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment’s 2026 assessment does not expect health impairments in healthy adults from single caffeine doses of up to 200 mg. The article also presents the findings for young people and the limitations of the long-term evidence.
